Emergency Childcare Provision

The Government has asked schools to remain open if possible to provide emergency childcare provision during school closures due to the coronavirus situation nationally.

The Government has stressed that if a child can be safely cared for at home, they should stay at home and be looked after there.

The school is currently providing very limited childcare on site between 8:30am and 3:30pm. School staff are working on a rota basis to manage this provision and the provision could be cancelled at any time if the school is unable to continue to provide adequate staffing.

Provision will only be offered where there is a proven need.

Childcare should be provided only for the following groups:

1) The children of key workers from sectors identified in government guidance.

2) Children identified by a social worker or by the school's designated safeguarding lead as needing childcare provision.

3) Children with an Education, Health and Care Plan.

If you believe that one of these groups applies to your family, please contact the headteacher (Mark Hewitt) via email at head@stjstj.co.uk writing 'Emergency childcare request' in the subject box. You should include a contact phone number in your email for the school to contact you.

A member of school staff will call you as soon as possible on the number you provide to discuss your request. If you identify as a category of key worker, you may be required to provide evidence from your employer that this applies to you. We will ask you to confirm information about your home circumstances as well as your employment to ensure that we are making an appropriate offer.
