Parents & Friends

The St. James & St. John Parents & Friends Association (PFA) is a group of parents, carers and friends who support the school and work together to make the children’s learning experiences more fulfilling and exciting.

The St. James & St. John staff members all work hard together to help create a friendly, supportive and challenging learning environment. Supporting the PFA is a natural way to enhance that environment.

The St. James & St. John Parents & Friends Association (PFA) is currently fundraising to help develop a fantastic new school library. It will be designed by our pupils, teachers and a leading book distributor and will feature a well-stocked lending library as well an activities space designed to cater for interactive enjoyment.

To help raise the funds, the PFA is using the free fundraising tool called EASYFUNDRAISING. When users of the tool shop online at any of the available 4100+ retailers (including John Lewis & Partners, Amazon, eBay, notonthehighstreet), free donations are raised from these companies and donated to the school.

Sign up is very quick and easy and can be done through the link below:

Thank you for all of your amazing support.

What are the aims of the PFA?

  • To build links between the parents, carers and the school; enabling parents, carers and staff to build community spirit as well as further develop co-operation and understanding
  • To support the school in furthering its goal of continual improvement
  • To provide an opportunity for parents and carers to work with the school through the organisation of fundraising activities, which contribute to the best possible education for the children
  • To promote the interests of the students and the school

Focus on Fundraising Work

There will be a strong focus on fundraising work. The money we raise will be used for extra items that aren’t covered by the school’s income and are usually fun things to make learning exciting. This could be additional play equipment, competition prizes, school trips, sporting equipment or library materials. The PFA works closely with the school staff to determine where our fundraising could best support the school.

To do this, we hold regular fundraising events throughout the year, the largest one being the Summer Fair which is always very popular. Other smaller fun events are also organised.

Regular meetings are held at the school during which we:

  • Discuss new and interesting ways of raising money
  • Discuss and plan details of up and coming events
  • Liaise with the school on how funds should be spent.

These meetings are open to everyone so please join us.

Our Current PFA

The PFA was formed in May 2014 and we have since been working on setting up the Association with all its requirements for roles, responsibilities, regulations and paperwork.

Our Officers and Committee Members are parents and carers with children in all classes across the school. We have also appointed class representatives for each year. The role of the class representative will be to act as the PFA contact person for parents from his/her year group.

Please Get Involved

We rely on parents, carers and friends to get involved in many ways and everyone can get involved as much or as little as they like; any help is gratefully received. It could be a role on the committee, running a stall at a fair or just turning up and supporting an event. We are a friendly bunch and welcoming to newcomers and we’d love you to get involved.

The success of the PFA will not be possible without the help that we get from parents, carers and the school staff. We would like to encourage anyone who has any ideas or would like to be involved to contact us.

If you would like to get involved with the St. James & St. John PFA, can offer any help or have any opinions or feedback, please get in touch with us:
